Expedition
Story
The Full Circle North Pole Expedition 2026 is an all-Black team aiming to explore the last degree of the North Pole. We are honoring the legacy of Matthew Henson, the first African American explorer to reach the North Pole with Robert Peary.
This expedition represents more than just an attempt to reach the North Pole; It’s about reclaiming a new perspective on polar expeditions, retelling Matthew Henson's story, and exploring one of the most unpredictable regions on the Earth.

The Full Circle North Pole Expedition will change the representation of people of color in the outdoor community. This project will highlight issues of public interest by discussing the effects of climate change and sharing the diverse stories of the team’s members. We are strong and supportive of each other. We are determined to give this expedition our best effort with the support of an expert polar explorer, Eric Larsen.
While we care immensely about the goal, we want to share the journey with you. We are training together, and planning, and we hope to carry our stories into broader communities. We care about protecting access to nature, connecting for support, and uplifting our voices collectively. Every step of this process matters as much as the end goal, and we’d love your help in realizing it fully!
